New Baby.....

It will only be a couple months and we will be meeting this new baby ! When I went for my big ultrasound the baby kept it's legs closed and the cord between them so we couldn't see anything. I had a little problem with my placenta so they wanted me to come back in a few weeks so they could check on it and we figured we would see then.....nope.

The guy looked and looked and once again this baby really would not show us anything,so once we seen that all was good with the other problem and everything seems great with the baby...I just told him to stop looking and we will let this baby be a surprise. My first three older kids were all a surprise,I only had one ultrasound back then too ...and that hospital refused to tell people what they were having so all babies there were a surprise.

Since living here we found out for our last three and since this will most definitely be our last and my husband has never had the surprise I like the idea of him getting to have it as well. There is nothing else on earth that compares to that moment when your baby is born and they say it's a boy/girl and you are just finding out right then when you meet them!

I slept all the time with my first baby almost 20 years ago and then my oldest out of these ones 4 years ago ,but once you have one or two or in my case now three little ones in the house....you never get any sleep in the day. All I do is chase kids and the older two never nap in the day ,so I can't sleep when they do . I try laying down on the couch when the baby goes down, but I just lay there and kinda rest while I listen to the other two and jump up 60,000 times to get drinks, snacks and take the oldest to potty.

So for now I'm alive, and I'm hoping this new baby will be a good sleeper at night or I'm screwed...yikes !

School Safety Tips

School is in session for children of all ages from preschool to high school and as parents we are focused and buying necessities like new clothes and school supplies. We often do not think to discuss back to school safety. Whether we are talking about it for the first time or the tenth time it is very important. Make sure your discussion is age appropriate. For instance a four year old probably will not ride a bus or walk home by himself, however an older child will. A few topics are even worth repeating no matter how old your child is.
Bus SafetyWalk with a friend or group and stay visible but out of the road. Remind your child of the danger of strangers. Come up with a plan to avoid or escape if necessary. Before school starts take a few practice walks to the bus stop so your child will feel comfortable. Talk with your child about safety procedures once he is on the bus. Discuss possible emergency situations. Make sure your child knows how to contact you. Talk about what your child should do if bullied on the bus. Let him know that he should tell the bus driver of any problems.
Lunch Box Food SafetyWe took our lunch to school as kids and never questioned how our mom packed it. New studies show that often foods we pack in our child’s lunch box are not kept at a safe temperature even with an ice pack. Choose an insulated lunch box as opposed to a plastic lunch box. Make sure you have a large size ice pack or a couple of smaller ice packs for cold cut sandwiches, yogurt, fresh cut fruit, and cheese sticks.
School SafetyThe school administration usually does a nice job of convincing you that your child will be safe and well cared for. Many kids make it from kindergarten to twelfth grade without a hitch. Other kids will not be so lucky. The trouble may be with a student but could even be with a teacher. Talk with your child about how to handle bullies, relationship issues, teacher problems or academic struggles. As a parent you have your opinion and ideas of how your child should handle different situations. The most important thing is that your child feel comfortable to tell an adult about a problem before it gets too big.
Taking proactive steps for school safety can mean the beginning of a successful year!

PediaCare and Little Remedies (Giveaway)

Two of the leading children’s pain relievers, PediaCare® and Little Remedies®, will also offer additional product enhancements, including age-appropriate dosing devices. Infant products will now contain a special dosing syringe and flow restrictors on the bottles; children’s products, for ages 2 to 11 years, will have the bottles with flow restrictors, and continue to contain dosing cups. Both infant and children’s formulations will continue to have weight-based instructions on the package, as well.

While the new single-concentration for PediaCare® and Little Fevers® infants’ and children’s acetaminophen products will be among the first to hit store shelves, parents should know that there will be a "transition period" during which the existing infant products and the new acetaminophen infant PediaCare® and Little Fevers® products may be on store shelves simultaneously. The new infants’ formula is less concentrated and the dose is therefore more than in the older infant formulation. And while reading and following package directions is always recommended to obtain accurate dosing instructions, it will be important, while the two concentrations are available, to select the dose that is proper for the specific product version that is being given. Parents and caregivers should ask a healthcare professional if they have any questions.
The voluntary changes to single-concentration acetaminophen dosing demonstrate the continued commitment to accuracy, safety and innovation from PediaCare® and Little Remedies®.

Parent's Choice Baby Formula (Giveaway)

When I had my son almost 4 years ago,he spit up alot and we decided to try giving him a different kind of formula . We had him on the stuff from the hospital but thought maybe he would do better on the gentle or whatever the other brands call it .All brands have mostly the same things they just label and name them different things, that's why you have to read the labels to make sure you know what kind you are getting .

When we went to get the new kind for him to try we soon discovered how expensive it is and we thought well let's try the Parent's Choice brand first because it's cheaper and if it works...Great ! If not we would have to try some other ones, till we found one that worked with his belly....thank goodness it worked and we didn't have to by the more expensive brands. Since my son was born in 08 I have had a baby in 09,10 and one due in a couple months...so I'm very glad I tried this brand and it has worked for us...we spend alot on babies and this way we get to save some we would otherwise be forking out on formula if we were buying a more expensive brand.

Now I know some people think well if things are cheaper maybe that brand just isn't as good as the higher priced one..that is not so !

In the US, all infant formulas are subject to the same regulations for manufacture and ingredients required for the growth of healthy babies under the Infant Formula Act.
Store brand formulas sold at major retailers are a premium national substitute at a value price and meet the same FDA nutritional requirements as all of the major brands.
The quality and safety of the manufacturing of infant formulas are also inspected by the FDA in the same way.
