WTH ?!!

I just read this story and I can't even understand at all what this clown was thinking. I guess they will be doing a follow up once the police talk to him and see what he says ,but so far the story seems very odd. Who the hell kills a little kid then sits in the backyard waiting for the cops to come and leaves the mother and another kid alive in the house to tell on him ...the whole thing seems strange.
